FBI’s season finale features Chicago PD’s Hailey Upton, and CBS has released a promo featuring Tracy Spiridakos to tease the crossover.

The first footage of the Chicago PD and FBI crossover is now available, and it looks like Tuesday’s episode—which is also serving as the FBI season 2 finale—will have plenty of screen time for the visiting character.

CBS released the promo for “Emotional Rescue” and it focuses on Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), who temporarily joins the Bureau’s New York team from Chicago PD’s Intelligence Unit.

At the end of the latest Chicago PD episode, viewers learned that the FBI had asked for an officer from Chicago to assist with an unspecified case, and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) sent Upton as a sort of punishment for her recent reckless behavior.

The teaser shows Upton being assigned by unit chief Isobel Castille (Law & Order alum Alana de la Garza) to work with Special Agent OA Zidan (Zeeko Zaki) while his usual partner Maggie Bell is still working undercover.

In reality, the undercover storyline is accommodating actress Missy Peregrym’s pregnancy. So it makes logistical sense to have Spiridakos and her character step into the existing available spot.

However, Upton doesn’t appear to be interested in changing her methods very much—at least not from the promo. She’s seen telling a suspect that she’ll fly back from Chicago and break his arm!

“Emotional Rescue” is co-written by Rick Eid, who currently serves as showrunner of both series, and Joe Halpin. Originally intended as the season’s 19th episode, it has now been declared as the finale for season 2, due to the production shutdown caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
