Chicago Fire’s own Edwin Hodge appears in Monday’s All Rise on CBS, the first episode of scripted network TV to be produced with social distancing.

While Chicago Fire is wrapped for the season, former recurring guest star Edwin Hodge will be back on TV tomorrow in the CBS drama All Rise.

Hodge, who recurred during Chicago Fire season 2 and season 3 as firefighter Rick Newhouse, has a key role in the episode “Dancing at Los Angeles,” which airs at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

It’s an episode many TV fans will be interested in, because it’s the first scripted drama to shoot and air a new episode since the coronavirus pandemic shut down conventional TV production. The episode was shot in cast members’ homes, using online services like Zoom.

The freshman drama follows a group of judges, attorneys and court employees in Los Angeles as they navigate the justice system, and in this episode, they’ll have to handle a whole trial virtually.

Edwin Hodge plays Joey Beto, who gets into an altercation with his brother Kurt (guest star Mo McRae, Almost Family) over a car. The situation turns violent, leaving Kurt under arrest and facing prison time for what’s described as a “vicious” assault.

There’s a great guest lineup for this installment that also includes Dorian Missick (For Life and the real-life husband of All Rise star Simone Missick), Lex Scott Davis, Peter MacNicol (Numbers) and Paul McCrane (ER).

While it’s certainly not as fast-paced or action-packed as the One Chicago franchise, this is worth giving a watch to on Monday. Just watching how the series navigates the challenge of making TV from afar is worth your time, as that might be the new normal for a while until current events are able to improve.

Plus, we get to see what a Chicago Fire alumnus is doing now, and from the episode description, Hodge should have a memorable role. Being the victim in the case is hard enough, but when it also involves your brother, that just adds even more drama (and hopefully screen time).

You can watch a sneak peek of the All Rise quarantine episode below; Edwin Hodge isn’t in it, but it will give fans an idea of what to expect. In the scene, the show’s various judges debate the merits of continuing to do their jobs outside of a courtroom. This will be interesting for them and viewers.
