Daniel di Tomasso will lead one of Lifetime’s Christmas movies.

Daniel di Tomasso probably isn’t returning to Chicago Fire anytime soon, but One Chicago fans will be able to catch him later this year as the lead in a new Lifetime Christmas TV-movie.

The actor recurred in several Chicago Fire season 6 episodes as Zach, the Hazmat officer who was the object of both Stella Kidd’s (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Sylvie Brett’s (Kara Killmer) attention.

Eventually Zach and Stella started dating—but she broke it off after not that long at all when it was clear that she still had feelings for Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney). Stella and Severide, as fans know, later got back together and are still together.

While Zach got left out in the cold, di Tomasso will have better luck in the Lifetime project, which is one of the network’s popular holiday-themed romance movies.

According to the network’s press release, the film is entitled Christmas Ever After and di Tomasso plays Matt, who takes over a quaint bed and breakfast that romance novelist Izzi Simmons (played by Ali Stroker) visits.

Izzi realizes that Matt “bears an uncanny resemblance” to the male character in the romance novels she’s been writing, and it’s no spoiler to say that the two of them begin to find a real-life connection during her latest visit to the venue.

Lifetime has not yet announced a premiere date for the film, but given that it’s Christmas-themed it should be a while before it debuts.

Since finishing his run on Chicago Fire, audiences have seen Daniel di Tomasso in a recurring role on The CW‘s Dynasty reboot as Fletcher Myers. He also made a guest-appearance on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and will appear in the pilot episode of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series Ratched, the prequel to One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest starring Sarah Paulsen as Nurse Ratched.

With his casting in this Lifetime film, he becomes the latest One Chicago alum to shoot a TV romance; Chicago Med actors Torrey DeVitto and Colin Donnell have both starred in romance movies for Hallmark, while Chicago PD‘s Charles Michael Davis appeared in one that aired on ABC last year.
