Who’s out: Lisseth Chavez has exited Chicago PD after just one season as the newest Intelligence Unit recruit Vanessa Rojas. Like Ilonzeh, it wasn’t her decision to leave; the producers decided that Rojas was not in their plans for season 8.

It’s a sharp turnaround for Chavez; the actress was originally announced as a recurring guest for season 7, but her option as a series regular was quickly picked up and she appeared in all of the episodes except for the season premiere. Season 7 also featured several Rojas-centric episodes and gave her a subplot as Hailey Upton’s (Tracy Spiridakos) roommate.

But don’t worry if you’re a fan, because Lisseth Chavez already has a new job: she’s the latest main cast member on The CW’s superhero series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The new season is expected to debut in 2021 and she’ll play Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz.

Who’s in: Reports say that new cast members—as in more than one—will fill Rojas’s spot in the Intelligence squad room, so it’s possible that several actors will be coming and going for the show to decide who, if anyone, they want to bring on full-time. None of these new people have been announced yet, though.

Meanwhile, look for another season-long story arc with a recurring character. Season 8 will be featuring Nicole Ari Parker of Empire fame as the new Deputy Superintendent. Her character is a transplant from Atlanta named Samantha Miller, who works under Jason Crawford (recurring player Paul Adelstein). Miller is an advocate for police reform and wants to help Intelligence adapt to their new normal—but will they?
