What should happen

Chicago Fire pretty well stomped on Brett’s life by the end of season 8, and not entirely on purpose either. Having her birth mother die at the end of that storyline was a bit of a frustrating twist, because so many One Chicago stories have bad endings, because those are the endings that come with the most drama. To that end, it’d be nice if she actually was still involved in her half-sibling’s life when season 9 begins.

Also, she needs to make some choices about the people in her life. Brett has just had another partner choose to leave her kind of out of the blue, although this time she seemed more okay with it than she did with Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) moving away. This is obviously because of the show’s decision not to bring Annie Ilonzeh back, but it should have effects on Brett.

She’s now gotten left by two partners in three years. How will she react and will that color her relationship with her new partner Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae)?

Plus, can she finally decide whether or not to pursue a relationship with Casey? Whether or not you ship them we can all agree that the storyline has gone on long enough—and Casey having a fling with Dawson calls into question whether Casey’s really that interested in Brett at this point. If that doesn’t happen in season 9, it needs to not happen at all.
