In this article, we’re profiling Ethan Choi (Brian Tee).

Where we left off

Chicago Med season 5 was an uncharacteristic season for Dr. Ethan Choi. Normally the show’s most level-headed character, he went on full tilt across last season, as his personal life became a mess and a large part of the series.

Choi didn’t have many cases that were life-changing for him, except for the episode in which he treated a military officer who was AWOL (absent without leave) and he chose to contact the Army about her. That led the Army to show up at the hospital to take her back, and it was a controversial choice for sure.

But most of his story had to do with his relationship with April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta). Ethan hit the gas on Chexton in season 5, wanting to have a baby with her and proposing marriage to her in the midseason premiere. When he discovered she had cheated on him by kissing Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), though, he broke off the engagement and went nuclear, attacking Crockett on two different occasions.

Choi was last seen escaping a hostage situation to find April waiting for him. While Choi had said he regretted the end of their relationship to the hostage-taker, he just stared at April and walked away from her. Awkward.
