Chicago Med season 6 character preview: Ethan Choi
What should happen
Choi became a completely different—and sometimes unwatchable—character last season, so the number one goal for him in Chicago Med season 6 needs to be to come back to the Choi that fans know and love. He’s always been calm and professional, not overly emotional and starting fights in the middle of the hospital.
It was also frustrating to see that Choi did not suffer any disciplinary action for the incidents he had with Crockett, even though he physically assaulted him twice. Crockett wouldn’t press charges since he’s accepted the blame for the April situation, but Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) should have done something professionally because that behavior is not okay in any workplace.
Plus, Choi needs to hold April more accountable than he has (or the show has). She’s the one who initiated the kiss with Crockett and yet Chicago Med made it come off like she was wronged while Crockett was getting punched and snarked at. Frankly, Choi would be better off if he and April didn’t get back together, but if he does want to go down that road again they’re going to have to have a lot more serious conversation than the one they did have. That looked like nothing when compared to how much he unloaded on Crockett.
Lastly, how about stories for Choi that don’t have anything to do with April? She’s usually working on his cases and so much of his personal development has been around her. He did get sent off to deployment, but that happened off-screen. Let’s see Choi stand on his own a bit more.
