Chicago Fire season 9 character preview: Stella Kidd
What will happen
With Stella being the only female firefighter at Firehouse 51, and part of the show’s biggest relationship, expect her to keep being one of the main focuses of the series.
The primary question will be how her relationship with Severide is going to continue to evolve. Fans have been asking whether or not they’ll get married for a few seasons now but that doesn’t mean it has to happen. We just had a Chicago Fire wedding last season, and there are things the writers can do to keep their romance interesting that don’t involve marriage. Just seeing them be able to support and encourage one another, like Severide did for Stella last season, is progress because that hasn’t always happened.
Expect more hijinks with Stella and Brett, as well, since the show has enjoyed writing subplots for the women of the firehouse. Maybe the new character Gianna Mackey will get involved in those, or maybe not (she’s going to be new and, depending on her personality, she might not fit into the comedic subplots like building an ill-fated “women’s lounge”).
Stella’s mentorship program will continue at least through the start of season 9 since the show has to resolve that dangling subplot about the missing student. After that, though, it’s a toss-up if Chicago Fire will keep it, or move on to other things.
