A new Law and Order SVU season starts this week, so find out how to watch Law and Order SVU season 22, episode 1 online or live as the long-running Dick Wolf drama returns.

Thursday’s season premiere is called “Guardians and Gladiators.” In the episode, Olivia Benson (series star Mariska Hargitay) and her Special Victims Unit team find themselves dealing with a lot of issues as they look into a Central Park assault.

From the episode description, it sounds like the episode will address growing tensions between police and the community, which means this is another Dick Wolf series to adapt its storytelling due to current events. The One Chicago universe plans to address police tensions and COVID-19, and now Benson and her squad will also have to navigate at least the former.

This will also be the first episode to feature Demore Barnes (Chicago Justice, The Unit) as a series regular after he had previously recurred on the show. Barnes is an underrated actor, so look out for how the series expands his role as more of him should be an incredible plus.
