Chicago PD season 8, episode 2 synopsis plus promo.

The next Chicago PD involves more issues with fellow police officers, as revealed in the official information that NBC has released for this week’s episode.

Wednesday’s installment, called “White Knuckle,” has the Intelligence Unit investigating a case in which the prime suspect is another cop’s son. Deputy Superintendent Samantha Moore (returning guest star Nicole Ari Parker, Empire) wants the case wrapped up quickly. But do we not remember what happened the last time a Superintendent told Intelligence to do something? That episode was called “False Positive” and it did not go well.

Or for that matter, the fact that she’s talking to Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), an officer whose own son was also involved in a crime? If he’s going to listen to anything, it’s probably going to be the other point of view. This sounds like one of those cases of the week where everyone ends up not happy about something.

Meanwhile, Kevin Atwater’s (LaRoyce Hawkins) issues continue in the B-story. He comes into conflict with Voight again over the situation, which isn’t a shocker considering that Voight has urged Atwater to drop subjects in the past. Can Voight put aside his personal dissent and just support his officer, or is he going to try and convince Atwater he’s right again?

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:

"The son of an influential former officer is implicated in a murder and Moore pressures Voight to charge him quickly so that the CPD isn’t accused of preferential treatment. The stakes are raised in Atwater’s fight against the blue wall after patrol officers stop responding to his team’s calls. Voight wants to help Atwater end this mistreatment but the two can’t agree on the right way to handle it."

Below is the promo spot that’s been circulating for this week’s episode. NBC has combined its promos for all three One Chicago programs into one, so skip ahead to the last segment if you’re only interested in the PD teaser. It doesn’t show much that’s going to come as a surprise, but it’s still pretty tense.
