Chicago Med season 6, episode 2 recap: Those Things Hidden in Plain Sight
April
April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) is still working in the COVID-19 ICU, this time treating a young woman named Yesenia wno also has cardiomyopathia. Yesenia is more worried about her mother than herself, but when we see her next, is having trouble breathing.
The doctor April is working with shoots down her concerns and refuses to get a second opinion when she asks for one. It’s only when April threatens to go find someone else that the guy agrees to treat Yesenia, while adding “Don’t think this is over.”
April vents to Choi, who tells her that she “set [the other doctor] off” and he’s now refusing to work with her. He says she can’t keep chewing out residents. April returns to work and has to tell Yesenia’s mom she might not make it. Not unlike last week’s storyline. So April goes to Choi again, hoping he’ll use his new power to allow Mom to visit her daughter in person.
He denies her request, but after getting his ego bruised by Will, changes his mind. Unfortunately, when Mom gets there, she also has COVID-19. April is sort of comforted by Choi as she ends another Chicago Med episode brooding on the balcony.
Charles and Marcel
Crockett is not happy to have Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) remind him that he has to talk to him about his mental health. He tells Charles that he’s not doing it but he ends up in the other man’s office anyway where absolutely zero progress is made.
Charles gets a text from Anna because her mom, his ex-wife, isn’t feeling well. Once she coughs up blood, Charles insists that they’re going to the ED, where Crockett takes over. He deduces that it’s an ulcer and doesn’t seem bothered by it.
But while waiting for him to do the surgery, Anna confesses that she and her mother are moving to Arizona. Charles asks his ex about it in her recovery room. She admits that she has a possible job offer there but Crockett interrupts before the two can seriously fight it out.
And Chicago Med, for some reason, ends with Crockett staring up at the ceiling like now he’s thinking about his relationship issues. Considering how his part in this episode was relatively small compared to other characters, he’s a strange choice to end with.
