2. Yaya DaCosta leaves Chicago Med

Chicago Med has seen its fair share of shocking cast exits over the years but we have to admit we never anticipated the departure of one, let alone two, series regulars in season 7. While DeVitto’s exit was surprising, Natalie’s departure wasn’t quite as shocking given how season 6 ended. The departure of Yaya DaCosta’s April Sexton, however, is an entirely different story!

Heading into season 7, things were looking brighter than ever for April who seemed to be ready to give her relationship with Ethan (Brian Tee) another shot after his near-death experience and was about to pursue her dream of becoming a Nurse Practitioner.

So to say we were shocked when news broke that Yaya DaCosta would be leaving Chicago Med after six seasons as a series regular and would not return for season 7, might be an understatement.

If losing April wasn’t bad enough, the character never really got a proper sendoff with the writers simply addressing April’s exit in the form of some throwaway updates from other characters. The good news is April is alive and well, and therefore could easily return should DaCosta be interested in doing so. We just wish April would have received a grander sendoff given the major impact she’s had not only on Med but across the One Chicago franchise.
