Chicago Fire season 9, episode 3 synopsis and promo: Smash Therapy

Chicago Fire season 9 episode 3 synopsis
After taking an unexpected break last week, Chicago Fire season 9 continues this Wednesday night with an episode which, to the details and teaser that NBC has officially released, seems to find one member of the firehouse questioning their skills as another two members of 51 question the status of their relationship.
Originally intended to air last week, “Smash Therapy,” promises to find Mouch (Christian Stolte) yet again questioning his abilities as a firefighter following what is teased in the promo as an aerial ladder mishap. We saw Mouch questioning himself a bit at the top of the new season, so it’s should be interesting to see if this is a storyline and trend we’ll continue to see and whether it could be foreshadowing the character’s trajectory.
Elsewhere in the episode, Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) shippers should expect to see the two characters address that awkward moment in episode 2. It’s unclear what progress, if any, will be made but if nothing else it’s a positive sign knowing the elephant in the room will be addressed in some way as Chicago Fire season 9 resumes this week.

Here’s how NBC officially describes the episode:
"A mishap on the aerial ladder in the midst of a fire rescue leaves Mouch shaken and questioning his abilities. Kidd looks for support from Severide while Casey and Brett discuss their future."
Chicago Fire season 9 episode 3 promo
Keeping with the trend we’ve seen so far this season, NBC’s latest promo for the latest episode of the season is part of a One Chicago promo that teases snippets of all three series’ new episodes. As a result, we don’t get too much of an insight “Smash Therapy,” but the promo still manages to treat us with a few interesting teasers.
Sandwiched between the Med and PD teasers, the all too short Fire spot focuses on Severide as he’s thanked for helping to save a fellow firefighter’s life during one of the episode’s calls. It’s hard to get too much context from the moment, but we have a feeling it must play a key role in the episode given its inclusion in the promo.
