Returning with its first episode of the new year, the latest episode of Chicago PD season 8 looks to shift the focus from Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), who played a key role in the first hours of the season, and onto Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), with what is shaping up to be a Burgess-centric episode.

This week’s episode, entitled “Tender Age,” will begin with Burgress and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) stumbling upon a lost child, wandering in the street. Concerned for her well-being, Burgess and Ruzek accompany the lost girl home where they are greeted with a grave scene.

As teased by the official synopsis for the episode, the young girl’s entire family has been murdered leading the Intelligence Unit to take on the case in hopes of getting to the bottom of the case. While the specific details of the case are unclear, it’s clear Burgess will play a key role in the case and in helping to look out for the wellbeing of the young girl who’s lost everything as the team searches for answers.

"Ruzek and Burgess discover a child walking alone in the middle of the street and when they take her home, they discover her entire family has been murdered. Upton is approached with a job offer from the FBI."

With NBC continuing to condense the promos for its One Chicago series into one joint teaser, our teasers continue to be on the short and sweet side. Due to the limited time, the latest promo from NBC puts a particular focus on Burgess — which is far from surprising given she’s primed to play a key role in this week’s new episode.

In the Chicago PD portion of the promo, we get a quick sneak peek of Burgess stepping in to assist the child primed to play a key role in the episode, as discussed above. Between the synopsis and promo, it’s looking to be a breakout episode for Burgess and we can’t wait to see Marina Squerciati knock it out of the park with another incredible performance!
