The search is on

While Casey looks for Brett to finish their earlier conversation, Chicago Fire has the man that Severide rescued come to look for him at the firehouse. The man explains that the car he went back into the fire for was his father’s vehicle, and he wonders if he’ll be able to get back to it, or what’s left of it. Severide makes an inquiry with his old boss at OFI, and is told that if he closes the investigation for them, then he can get the guy back to his car.

He reluctantly agrees—and runs into the stereotypical officer who confronts him about Stella and suggests the only reason she’s up for promotion is she’s a woman and/or because she’s sleeping with Severide. Luckily for him, Kelly doesn’t slug him on the spot. He does, however, start to back away from his promise to help Stella with her prep.

Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae) asks Brett what’s up with Casey, and then inquires about Gallo’s relationship status. Is that a potential ship in the making? Meanwhile, Mouch’s bromances are falling apart as both Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) try to reassure him that what happened wasn’t his fault.

Herrmann uncovers that another firehouse had an accident with their aerial ladder, and pays them a visit to see if there’s anything tying the two incidents together. He’s told that the other incident also involved an experienced firefighter, and is encouraged to get rid of his team’s “dead wood.”

Plus, Casey tells Brett that his feelings for her are real, regardless of his ex-wife. “There is no regardless of Gabby,” she says. “That’s the point.”
