Chicago Med season 6, episode 3 recap: Do You Know The Way Home
Chicago Med season 6, episode 3 recap.
This week’s Chicago Med gave audiences more backstory on the show’s newest character, in a fairly usual way.
Wednesday’s episode “Do You Know The Way Home” introduced Dr. Crockett Marcel’s (Dominic Rains) ex-girlfriend by having her come into the Emergency Department, and Crockett’s new love interest Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) had her interest piqued.
Meanwhile, April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) returned to the Emergency Department after starting the sixth season treating COVID-19 patients and made clear that she wasn’t happy about it. But April ended up working on a missing persons case.

Natalie and Crockett
Natalie’s banter with Crockett draws the attention of Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett), as does her distaste for the hospital’s new telemedicine program. She later jumps in to help a paramedic named Megan who’s been stabbed in the line of duty, only to be surprised that Crockett knows the woman. She’s one of his many flings, and now she’s getting married to somebody else. This is not uncomfortable at all.
The cool part of this scene is that Dr. James Lanik (recurring guest star Nate Santana) is still here, albeit now as a garden-variety trauma surgeon and with a different haircut. But he’s still glaring and snarky as usual.
Natalie and Crockett confer about Megan’s case with Natalie referring to Megan as his “special friend.” When Chicago Med inevitably has Megan crash, Lanik orders surgery. As Crockett comforts Megan, Natalie keeps getting calls from her telemedicine patient and eventually figures out the woman has just been reading symptoms off Wikipedia. The two end up talking about their sons instead.
Crockett visits Megan in her recovery room and assures her that she’ll be fine for her wedding just before her husband-to-be arrives. He makes his exit and the episode ends with him and Natalie again standing outside together. She’s worried about him ending up alone. “Or maybe that’s the point,” she says, and he doesn’t answer.
But Natalie does feel the need to give him a semi-hug from behind with a kiss on the shoulder, which is probably supposed to be shippy but looks more awkward than anything. If this is an example of their future chemistry, this pairing isn’t exactly romantic.
