Chicago Med season 6, episode 3 recap: Do You Know The Way Home

April, Charles and Choi

Choi is dealing with the business side of being ED chief; Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) wants him to look at how he’s utilizing his staff. He tells April that means she’ll no longer be working in the COVID-19 ward, because she’s needed back in the regular ED. April does as she’s told, but she’s bratty about it as if her feelings mean more than his authority.

April and Charles visit a young woman named Lisa who strikes them both as a little odd. It turns out that she’s got an extreme Vitamin D deficiency, and she seems to have trouble getting her details right. Charles suggests to April and Choi that Lisa might have been abducted. Although circulating her picture to find out would be unethical, April tells Choi she’ll do it anyway.

When Lisa can’t sign her discharge paperwork, April and Charles become further convinced that she was kidnapped. Choi points out they don’t have grounds to hold her, and April storms off; Charles asks Choi if this is “how you want to run your ED.”

April further complains to Charles about being taken off the COVID-19 ward as they look through photos of missing children, hoping to identify Lisa. Choi, however, arrives with an app that de-ages photos, and within seconds the trio are able to find a possible match with a young girl named Kelly.

Choi calls the cops, but no one is surprised when Lisa denies being Kelly.

Chicago Med has Lisa attempt to walk out of the ER, but Choi calls for security, and she curls up in the fetal position on an ED bed and starts sobbing. April and Charles visit Kelly’s mom at home, and she doesn’t believe them either. But April steals a teddy bear from the house and gives it to Lisa, who silently confirms that it’s hers – and that she’s Kelly.

Kelly is reunited with her mother while our heroes look on, and Choi compliments April. April does not accept the compliment warmly. Apparently, these two will continue to have issues.
