Chicago PD season 8, episode 4 synopsis and teaser.

The upcoming Chicago PD will see the Intelligence Unit once again butting heads with the Deputy Superintendent over a sensitive case. Will the conflict interfere with their investigation?

In “Unforgiven,” Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and his team look into the murder of a police officer. It’s not long before they identify a prime suspect who had bad blood with the victim. But while it looks like a relatively open and shut case, things get a bit harder when Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller (recurring guest star Nicole Ari Parker) returns.

Miller doesn’t want to come to the police officer’s defense until she’s fully investigated the suspect’s complaints. That probably won’t go over well with people like Voight and Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), who have felt like the department isn’t supporting cops the way that it should. But the truth of the matter might lie somewhere in the middle, since Intelligence usually digs up somebody’s buried secrets in the course of their work.

So far, Miller only seems to pop up when she can give Voight and company a headache and this doesn’t seem to change that precedent. Will she continue to be more adversary than ally? Or may she be proven wrong this time? This is going to be a problematic case all the way around, which means more drama for fans to enjoy.

Here’s the official synopsis for this episode from NBC:

"A cop is murdered and suspicion falls on someone who has been holding a grudge against the officer. Intelligence works hard to solve the case but Deputy Supt. Samantha Miller is hesitant to defend him until she knows the whole story."
