Chicago Fire season 9, episode 4 recap: Funny What Things Remind Us
New beginnings
Mouch finds out that Chuck enlisted a giant billboard of him dressed as an elf declaring that 51 has free doughnuts and escalates the prank war. The best part of this is that Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) shows up to see it. She’s there to hand Boden a file: their mystery man is Henry Sidwell, and his wife is getting him out of the hospital.
When Boden and Severide go there to meet her, she explains the home where they found Henry was their first house. Boden gives Henry back his hat and tells his wife to call them any time.
The team is called to an accident at a demolition site, Gallo rushes to get to Gianna just as a second amount of explosives goes off. Luckily, both of them and the worker Gianna was treating are just fine. Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) thanks Gallo for the save, but still won’t allow him to date her. Making this even weirder, Gianna walks into the conversation and corrects that when she was referring to “kids” earlier, she meant the ones at her parents’ daycare center.
After everybody watches Chuck have donuts dumped on the firehouse apron by a helicopter, Severide shares a drink with Boden, then the two both leave after Boden gets a phone call. That leaves Casey to drink alone and contemplate calling his new friend Sydney.
Severide gets home to find that Stella is gone, having decided to crash with Brett for the time being, and Boden meets up with Henry. Henry has wandered to the house again, and Boden is there to bring him back to his wife. Henry then gives Boden his hat, before taking one last look at his old home.
