Chicago PD season 8, episode 4 recap: Unforgiven
Chicago PD season 8, episode 4 recap.
This week’s Chicago PD saw Intelligence on the hunt for a cop killer, but who was really being investigated?
Wednesday’s episode “Unforgiven” involved the murder of a police officer, but Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) butted heads with Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller (recurring guest star Nicole Ari Parker) when Miller questioned the dead cop’s integrity.
Meanwhile, One Chicago fans found out what was next after last week’s massive moment between Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), but it wasn’t all good news for One Chicago’s newest couple.

An officer’s murder
Chicago PD opens with the unsurprising scene of Upton and Halstead in bed together. Now that they’ve admitted their feelings for each other, they’re in full couple mode. But Upton answers her phone and finds out her estranged father has had a heart attack. Halstead starts driving her to Chicago Med, but when a call comes in, she decides to respond to the homicide rather than go to the hospital.
The body they find is quickly identified as Mike Blaine, a 22-year veteran of the force and one of Voight’s former co-workers. Since all his valuables are on the body, Voight’s first thought is that Blaine was ambushed. He tells his team to “do it by the numbers” while Halstead continues to urge Upton to go see her dad. She’d rather focus on the shooting.
Voight speaks with Blaine’s current partner Rodriguez, who has no idea why his partner is dead in a park since Blaine had said he was going straight home to his wife. He does, however, mention that his partner disappeared for two hours awhile back, and he doesn’t think it was a doctor’s appointment.
After Voight comforts said wife, Chicago PD cuts back to the district, where Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) has identified the getaway vehicle—it has lightning bolts for taillights.
Upton then shows Voight video footage of Blaine making an exchange with a man named Marco Perez, who’s a member of the Latin Jokers gang. Blaine had previously arrested Perez, and the Narcotics division points Intelligence in the direction of Perez’s stash house. Our team quickly arrests Perez and a few of his friends.
