Chicago Fire season 9, episode 5 synopsis and promo: My Lucky Day
The next Chicago Fire will be very bad for two members of Firehouse 51, as revealed by the official materials that NBC has sent out for this week’s new episode.
The episode is entitled “My Lucky Day,” which will probably be used in an ironic sense because it features some very bad luck for Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso). The two of them wind up trapped inside an elevator with a woman they were trying to rescue.
Naturally, the main plot of the hour then becomes how to get everyone out of the elevator after battling the fire that brought our heroes there in the first place.
What’s interesting is that the network’s official synopsis doesn’t mention any other storylines; normally, NBC will mention some of the subplots for a given episode, so does this rescue story take up the whole hour? Or did they just decide not to mention any of the side stories this time around?
Mostly, though, the idea of Herrmann being stuck in a small space for awhile should entertain any One Chicago fan. David Eigenberg will likely have a field day with that plot as Herrmann gets even more cranky than usual about this predicament.

Here’s the formal synopsis for the episode directly from NBC. It doesn’t reveal much beyond explaining what leads up to the elevator situation. However, it does reveal that there’s going to be a lot of ground to cover.
"When Firehouse 51 is called to the scene of a dangerous blaze inside a 10-story storage unit, Herrmann and Cruz find themselves trapped inside a freight elevator with all communications cut off."
