Cut to Maggie and Ben (guest star Charles Malik Whitfield) getting the latest update on their foster son Auggie. Unsurprisingly, it’s not good; his doctor says he has signs of end-stage liver failure and needs an immediate transplant. That wasn’t anything Chicago Med didn’t make pretty clear last week. After seeing Ben off to work, Maggie updates Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), who says they’ll look for a match amongst the hospital staff.

Charles catches up with Anna (recurring guest star Hannah Alligood) as she’s walking somewhere and confronts her about her pregnancy. He still can’t wrap his brain around this. First he thinks she got pressured into having sex, then he’s shocked that she has a boyfriend.

He also informs her that she’s going to tell her mother about the impending baby. “I was going to tell you before the lawyer walked in,” she mutters, pointing out that her parents have been busy fighting, and gets out of the car.

Back at the hospital April is surprised to see former patient Kelly (the abducted girl from earlier this season) arrive after trying to get out of a moving car. Will has her sent upstairs and asks her mom if Kelly was trying to commit suicide. Mom has no idea.

After all this Chicago Med finally gets back to the contractor, whom Crockett is operating on. He removes her spleen and finds an unexpected tumor. He tells Natalie he can’t get rid of it without the patient’s consent, but decides to send a sample to pathology while Dr. Charles meets with Kelly’s distraught mother. Mom is still clueless.

Goodwin lets Maggie know that a potential donor has been found but that person has another life-threatening condition they’d be passing on to Auggie if they go through with the transplant. Maggie doesn’t care; she thinks that condition could be treated later on. Goodwin says that the transplant will go forward if Auggie’s doctor approves.

Choi’s chronic pain patient is getting cranky now after his first round of tests comes back clear, ranting at him and April and then driving away his wife.

Meanwhile, Crockett tells his patient about the tumor; she’s not surprised. Her mother passed away from stomach cancer. Crockett offers to remove the tumor but she says no. She doesn’t even want to talk to an oncologist. Despite Natalie informing her inaction is a death sentence, she’d rather die than go through any form of treatment.

Natalie wants to force her into getting treatment by claiming that the patient is essentially suicidal, and goes off to talk to Goodwin. Once again, Natalie thinks she knows best.
