Chicago Med season 6, episode 8 synopsis and promo: Fathers and Mothers, Daughters and Sons

When Chicago Med returns to our TV screens this Wednesday, it will be with an episode that largely continues the same storylines from when it left off, according to the synopsis that NBC has made available for the episode.

The installment is called “Fathers and Mothers, Daughters and Sons,” and all of the storylines in it are ones that started earlier in season 6.

The biggest development is that Steven Weber (Wings, Indebted, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) will make his One Chicago debut as Dr. Dean Archer, who joins forces with Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) to help Choi in the Emergency Department. Weber’s casting was announced in January and he’ll appear in multiple episodes.

Elsewhere, though, it’s more family drama for both Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett). Both characters faced medical concerns with their kids in the latest episodes, and it sounds like there’s still plenty of fallout to come.

But the question is really how much does the audience care about the Anna and Auggie stories, or are they wanting to see more hospital drama instead of personal challenges?

Here’s how NBC officially describes this episode, which also confirms the introduction of the new character.

"Ethan hires an old Navy colleague to join him in the ED. A final custody hearing threatens to separate Charles and his daughter. Maggie must make a choice that will change Auggie’s life."

Below is the official promo that NBC has released for this week’s episode, which looks more like a giant Manstead tease—interesting considering that neither Will nor Natalie are mentioned in the synopsis, so how big could any plotline for them be?
