Chicago Fire season 9, episode 9 synopsis and promo: Double Red

The latest Chicago Fire is sending several characters back to school, as per the official description and promo that NBC has released for Wednesday’s episode.

This week’s installment is titled “Double Red,” and the first thing we know about it is that several members of Firehouse 51 are getting some additional training. Mouch (Christian Stolte), Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) and Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae) are the four in question, and with that group, One Chicago fans know there will be hijinks.

In fact, that sounds like the perfect setup for one of the show’s comedic subplots—but the fact that it’s mentioned first suggests that this story’s going to take up more screen time than that.

The only other character mentioned is Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer), who’s once again going to get hurt in the line of duty. How will he react to the latest incident? After all, this is the guy who did almost fall off a ladder earlier this season, so he’s already gotten one good scare. And that doesn’t count all the times that Chicago Fire has put his life in peril before.
