Chicago PD season 8, episode 9 synopsis and promo: Impossible Dream
Chicago PD fans will be getting even more of Kevin Atwater this week, according to the official information that NBC has made available for Wednesday’s episode.
“Impossible Dream” might give us some more of Atwater’s (LaRoyce Hawkins) backstory, since it takes place in a neighborhood that he’s familiar with. Of course, since Atwater was out on patrol with Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), does that mean Burgess might have a part to play within this and we might finally get more Atwater and Burgess scenes?
This is two Atwater-centric episodes in a row, where in some Chicago PD seasons we’d have to wait for him to get the spotlight, so perhaps LaRoyce Hawkins’ role on the series is deservedly expanding.
Plus, One Chicago fans likely picked up on the introduction of new series regular Andre Cooper (portrayed by Cleveland Berto) in last week’s episode as a rank and file patrol officer; well, his storyline is going to continue here, as well.
Chicago PD season 8, episode 9 synopsis
This is the network’s formal description of the upcoming episode, which aside from mentioning Atwater’s backstory, seems to hint at how Andre Cooper will officially join the Intelligence Unit:
"When a local business owner is gunned down in his shop, it becomes personal for Atwater, who patrolled the neighborhood as a young cop. Dep. Supt. Samantha Miller comes to Voight with a special request about Andre Cooper."
Chicago PD season 8, episode 9 promo
Below is NBC’s promotional spot for this week’s episode, which surprisingly is more focused on Cooper than Atwater, even though Atwater is the focus of the synopsis. At least we get to see the two of them working together—will Cooper replace Ruzek as Kevin’s partner, since Atwater had been partnered with Rojas, and Cooper is Rojas’ replacement?
