Chicago Fire season 9, episode 10 synopsis and promo: One Crazy Shift

Despite the title, the next Chicago Fire sounds like a pretty normal episode, at least based on NBC‘s official information released ahead of Wednesday’s premiere date.

This week’s installment is called “One Crazy Shift” but it doesn’t sound that extraordinary. In the episode, Firehouse 51 looks for the cause of a few suspicious blazes—something the characters have done numerous times over the past eight and a half seasons.

Plus, Matthew Casey’s (Jesse Spencer) story continues. Audiences know the issue of his having lasting issues because of head trauma started in an earlier season and then came back up again last week, so that’s not new either.

But as we’ve said numerous times over the years, not every episode can be a Huge Deal, especially in network television where shows crank out anywhere from 18-24 episodes a season. This might be just a regular episode to help space out the bigger moments of season 9. And even the regular installments of this show usually have at least one surprise in them.

Here’s how NBC officially describes this episode. The most interesting part seems to be a Mouch subplot; whenever one of our characters has a dream or an idea, it can get pretty outlandish!

"A series of suspicious fires sends 51 on a search for the cause. Casey continues down a troubling path. Mouch is looking to make his long-awaited dream come true."
