The Law and Order SVU crossover featuring the return of Elliot Stabler is here, and so are NBC‘s details about the big two-hour event.

Thursday’s SVU episode, entitled “Return of the Prodigal Son,” is being used to launch the next series entitled Law and Order: Organized Crime. The installment involves Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) being reunited with her ex-partner Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), who quit the force years ago—in reality, Meloni opted to exit the series when he couldn’t come to terms on a new contract.

Now Stabler is back in the fold and will be the star of his own series. But first his story has to be set up again on his old show. Both Meloni and Isabel Gillies, who plays Elliot’s wife Kathy Stabler, will guest-star in this installment when Benson’s latest case has something to do with their family. How does the story go from that to the ex-cop being given command of a whole NYPD unit? You’ll have to watch and find out.

In traditional NBC fashion, part 2 of this crossover airs immediately afterward in the 10:00 p.m. Thursday time slot that SVU used to occupy. The network has also already scheduled a repeat of the entire event on Saturday starting at 8:00 p.m. for anyone who wants to watch it again.

Here is the official synopsis for the SVU portion of Thursday’s crossover event, which doesn’t reveal any specifics about the case beyond Stabler’s involvement:

"The squad rallies around Det. Stabler to find the suspect behind a threat to his family."
