Chicago PD season 8, episode 11 synopsis and promo: Signs of Violence

The next Chicago PD is a Hailey Upton-centric episode, per NBC‘s official information that they’ve released to promote Wednesday’s upcoming installment.

This week’s episode is entitled “Signs of Violence” and features Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) as she tries to locate a missing family that has what’s described as a “troubled” relationship. That then prompts Upton to think about her own family issues.

Naturally, that means Upton fans will be excited about this one, and Upstead fans should probably get excited too; it’s hard to imagine there won’t be at least one good Upstead scene in the episode because Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) will obviously be there to support his partner and girlfriend.

The question is what ground will this cover that earlier episodes haven’t? Upton’s childhood has been the focus before, most recently in the episode “Intimate Violence”, and it was brought up earlier this season when her abusive father was hospitalized.

It sounds like this plot is going down a familiar road over again; hopefully it’ll bring something new that One Chicago fans didn’t know about Hailey before. It could be really interesting if characters other than Halstead rally around her—Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) is fostering a young child right now, so certainly this situation would be something she’d empathize with, too? Or Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) who’s also been a surrogate parent?

And Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) is Hailey’s ex. All of those characters would also have reason to understand Upton’s investment in the case and/or care about her going through it. Or will Chicago PD choose to focus on Upstead, since it’s been awhile since that’s even come up on the show?
