Chicago Med season 7: Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto out as April and Natalie
By Cody Schultz
Chicago Med will be returning for a seventh season this fall on NBC, but when the long-running One Chicago medical drama returns there will be two notable characters missing from the Chicago Med season 7 cast!
In a move that few fans likely saw coming, actresses Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto will be departing the show following the conclusion of Chicago Med‘s current sixth season which will wrap in late May.
As first reported by Deadline, both DaCosta and DeVitto’s are departing the show after their original Chicago Med contracts are coming to an end with the pair deciding to exit the show rather than sign on for season 7.

According to reports, DaCosta is expected to next star as the lead of FOX’s new drama Our Kind of People while DeVitto has recently joined the cast of the indie film Skelly.
DaCosta and DeVitto are part of the show’s original cast, having originated the roles of ER nurse April Sexton and emergency pediatrics specialist Dr. Natalie Manning, respectively, on the show. Considering both have long been part of the show’s core storylines and that there are only a few episodes left this season, it is unclear how the characters of April and Natalie will be written off of the show.
Chicago Med season 7 cast
Although Chicago Med season 7 will be without Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto, the good news is that the remaining members of the original cast are all expected to return for the show’s next season.
While no official confirmation has been released, S. Epatha Merkerson is rumored to have already signed a new deal to return for season 7 as Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s Head of Patient and Medical Services Sharon Goodwin is. Meanwhile, fellow original actors Marlyne Barrett, Nick Gehlfuss, Oliver Platt, and Brian Tee — who respectively play Maggie Campbell, Dr. Will Halstead, Dr. Daniel Charles and Dr. Ethan Choi — are all reported to be in the final stages of negotiations to return for season 7 as well.
The contract status of Dominic Rains, who plays emergency room surgeon Crockett Marcel, is unknown but it is expected he too will return for Chicago Med season 7.
