There are a lot of questions going into tonight’s Chicago Fire episode.

Speculation has begun about whether or not Miranda Rae Mayo is leaving the series due to Stella Kidd’s recent promotion. Some fans have also been asking if Jesse Spencer and Taylor Kinney will return for season 10 (which has already been announced).

Then there are the plot-specific questions. Will there be a Stellaride engagement and/or wedding by the end of the season? Will Matthew Casey and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) get together as a couple finally, or continue to circle each other?

So much is up in the air, and viewers don’t have a lot of time to get answers.

In “A White-Knuckle Panic,” Stella will once again be at the fore, as no one knows where now-Lieutenant Kidd fits in a house that already has two other Lieutenants and a Captain. Obviously, no one wants her to leave Firehouse 51, but that’s why fans are worried about Miranda’s future with the series.

There are reasons why that wouldn’t make a lot of sense for the show, but this is a season where one main character has already left (granted due to an off-screen situation), so it’s understandable that the audience is on edge.

Elsewhere in this week’s Chicago Fire, we’ll get to see Mouch (Christian Stolte) accept his award for the gutsy rescue he pulled off earlier in the season. One reasons this is probably the comedic plot of the episode, since Mouch’s ego can get pretty big sometimes, and it’s a more upbeat plot with cause for celebration and/or shenanigans. We know that some other members of 51 are planning an event for Mouch, which could go terribly wrong in hilarious ways.

There’s no information about any fires of the week, so the actual firefighting and life-saving may come secondary to character developments here. Which is fine considering that again, we’re about to hit the end of the season; we want to know where these characters are and where they could be going. Hopefully at least some of these questions will get answered by the end of the episode; not all, though, because you know Derek Haas is saving something big for the season finale!
