Chicago Fire: Will there be a Stellaride wedding in season 9?

Chicago Fire is known for throwing unexpected curveballs the audience’s way and that’s exactly what the creative team did with season 9, episode 15’s “A White-Knuckle Panic.”

Heading into the episode, there were a lot of questions floating around in fans’ minds with the biggest elephant in the room being the future of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney).

In the previous episode, it was clear that Severide was finally starting to have a serious internal debate about the next step in his relationship with hints that he was mulling over whether the time had finally come to pop the question and whether Kidd would even say given her stance on marriage.

Only helping to further complicate the situation was the realization that in Kidd passing her Lieutenant test, her time at 51 could soon be coming to an end.

While there are still many questions left to be answered and several storylines still to be resolved, there was one major development in the episode which left fans absolutely stunned.

Chicago Fire: Does Severide propose to Kidd?

While the series left fans to question whether a Stellaride proposal was in the cards, those questions were quickly answered in “A White-Knuckle Panic.”

During the episode, Severide finally decided to pop the question to Kidd in the most unusual location: in the middle of an active fire 51 was responding to. In the heat of the moment, shameful pun intended, Kidd happily accepted Severide’s proposal with an enthusiastic yes!

Chicago Fire: Are Severide and Kidd getting married?

Although there is always the chance the writers could find a way to unexpectedly call off the proposal, all signs seem to point toward Severide and Kidd getting married on Chicago Fire.

Stella was quick to accept Severide’s impromptu proposal and marriage has long been viewed by fans as the next step in the longstanding couple’s relationship. The only true question seems to be when exactly wedding bells might be ringing.

Will Severide and Kidd get married in Chicago Fire season 9?

Currently, it is unclear when exactly Severide and Kidd will get married; however, it does seem unlikely that the couple will exchange I Do’s during season 9. What seems more likely is that the couple will walk down the aisle sometime in season 10, with the show’s 200th episode emerging as a favorite among fans for the Stellaride wedding.

As showrunner Derek Haas recently told ET in hinting at what’s to come in the show’s milestone episode:

"“It’ll be one to remember. Our 100th episode was when Casey and Gabby got married, so the 200th [episode], it’ll be one of those hugely life-changing episodes of the show.”"
