When does Chicago PD return?

It’s crazy to think that Chicago PD season 8 is already over as it seems like just yesterday the show returned for its newest season. And what a season it has been!
Season 8 proved to be quite an impactful and huge season for PD, bringing with it surprising new developments for our favorite detectives both in their personal and professional lives. Even better, the season gave each member of the Intelligence Unit get the chance to shine via some truly exceptional hours.

While Chicago PD season 8 has come to an end, the good news is another season is in the works and, pending any unexpected setbacks, we don’t anticipate a long wait until the series finally makes its way back to NBC’s lineup.
Will there be another season of Chicago PD?
Although season 8 has come to an end, the good news is that NBC’s One Chicago dramas won’t be coming to an end anytime soon!
In February 2020, NBC handed out multiseason renewals to each of its One Chicago series in ordering three additional seasons of Chicago Fire, Med and PD. The first season of the three-year renewal aired this past year with season 8, meaning there will be at least two more seasons coming. That’s right, not only will there be a ninth season of NBC’s crime drama but a tenth season has already been ordered as well.
When does Chicago PD return for season 9?
Currently, NBC has not announced when Chicago PD season 9 will return but we do know a few key pieces of information about the show’s return.
First, it has been confirmed that PD will return as part of NBC’s fall lineup meaning we can expect the new season to arrive sometime later this year. It has also been confirmed that season 9 will once again air in the 10 p.m. timeslot as the closing hour in the One Chicago trio of dramas.
Although no official release date has been announced by NBC, the network tends to roll out its fall schedule during the final week of September. Should this trend continue for the 2021 season, it is likely Chicago PD season 9 will debut Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021.
