As Chicago PD prepares to enter its ninth season, it’s interesting to look back on the show’s first season. Several original cast members are no longer with the show, and in general, it’s a different series now than it was then.

The first season of the series premiered in spring 2014 and introduced One Chicago fans to the Intelligence Unit. It includes Sophia Bush, Jon Seda and Elias Koteas, all of whom have since left the show for various reasons, plus a pilot appearance by Melissa Sagemiller (Law & Order: SVU).

Those first 15 episodes set the tone for a program much darker than its parent series Chicago Fire and a gritty cop drama that audiences around the world have come to love. With that in mind, fans might be looking for the show on Netflix, because the company has become synonymous with any kind of streaming TV.

But not every TV series goes to Netflix, especially with more streaming options now than ever before.

Is Chicago PD season 1 streaming on Netflix?

Unfortunately, Chicago PD season 1 isn’t part of the Netflix catalog. While fans used to be able to rent the season on DVD when Netflix was focused on DVD rental, the season is not included in the streaming options.

The reason for that is the reason many shows aren’t there: streaming rights. NBC originally had all of the One Chicago series available to watch online via Hulu, because the network’s parent company Comcast owns a portion of Hulu. But with Disney taking that over and NBCUniversal now launching their own streaming platform in Peacock, things have changed recently.

You can now find the first season of Chicago PD exclusively on Peacock, though you will have to pay for a Peacock Premium subscription to access it; only the current season is available on their free tier.

Alternatively, you can still buy the season on DVD or digitally through retailers like iTunes or Amazon Video; since it’s several years old by now, you should be able to purchase the season for under $20 and therefore get it for the same price it would cost you to sign up. It just depends on how you prefer to rewatch (or watch for the first time).
