The first season of Chicago Med seems like a long time ago with how much the show has changed over the years. But as fans prepare for season 7, they might want to go back and remember how it all started.

Season 1 introduced viewers to the doctors and nurses of what’s fully known as Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, including a few characters who are no longer part of the series, such as then-med student Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and then-trauma surgeon Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell), who literally came riding into the hospital on a gurney.

Characters had different jobs back then, and there were different dilemmas and relationships that no longer exist. In some ways, it was a lot less complicated! But while One Chicago enthusiasts are checking Netflix for the original season, that might not be so simple either.

Here’s where you can check out the first few episodes of our favorite medical drama.

Is Chicago Med season 1 on Netflix?

No, you won’t find this season on Netflix whatsoever. You used to be able to rent seasons on DVD, but to do that now, you’ll have to sign up for the company’s separate DVD rental plan (it’s not part of their subscription price).

Where to watch Chicago Med season 1

This won’t surprise any longtime fan, but the best place to go to stream Chicago Med nowadays is Peacock. That’s because Peacock is owned by NBC’s parent company, NBCUniversal, which means they now have the streaming rights to the show.

Be aware that you’re going to need to pay for a Peacock Premium subscription to access the first season; only the most recent season (season 6) is available on the free tier.

If you don’t want to sign up for another service, you can take that same amount of money and buy the season on digital retailers like iTunes or Amazon Video (where prices vacillate from $10 to $25 depending on if there’s a sale). Or, pick up the original DVDs at Amazon or another retailer; they’ve been out for a few seasons now, so they’re going to be relatively cheap.

It just depends on how you prefer to watch the show, because without a syndication deal in place, you’re not going to see reruns of the early seasons free on TV any time soon.
