Chicago Med season 7: NBC inks new deals with four key cast members

Chicago Med season 7 will be down two cast members when it debuts this fall on NBC, but it seems Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto will be the only original Chicago Med cast members departing the show.

Ahead of the show’s return to production, NBC has negotiated new contracts with four key members of the cast thus ensuring no additional original cast members will be departing the show following season 6.

As first reported by Deadline, S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Nick Gehlfuss and Brian Tee have inked new deals with NBC which will ensure the quartet will not be walking away from Chicago Med before the show’s upcoming seventh.

While the specifics of the new agreements are unclear, it’s reported Merkerson, Platt, Gehlfuss and Tee have agreed to multi-year deals which should ensure the quartet will stick around for at least a few additional seasons. Given we already know the Chicago Med has been renewed through season 8, it’s likely the new deals cover both seasons and possibly beyond.

Chicago Med season 7 cast

Now that NBC has managed to work out new contracts with S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Nick Gehlfuss and Brian Tee, fans can rest at ease in knowing the four original cast members will be returning for Chicago Med season 7 and they’re not the only cast members coming back for season 7.

Although a new deal has not yet been worked out, fellow original cast member Marlyne Barrett will also be returning for season 7. For those curious to know, Barrett still has one more year on her current contract which is why she was not included in the string of new deals inked by NBC with the show’s other original cast members.

Additionally, it is expected that Chicago Med season 7 will also feature the returns of Dominic Rains and Steven Weber as well as several additional recurring cast members such as Asjha Cooper, Nate Santana, Brenna Brown, Tehmina Sunny, Charles Malik Whitfield and Lorena Diaz.
