Chicago Med season 7 might not be coming until this fall, but one major Chicago Med season 6 cliffhanger seems to have been prematurely resolved.

** Warning: The following post contains spoilers from the Chicago Med season 6 finale **

In the Chicago Med season 6 finale, things finally came to a head with the storyline involving Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) stealing meds from Will’s (Nick Gehlfuss) clinical trial for her ailing mother.

While Natalie would ultimately come clean to Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) about her actions in stealing the drugs from the clinical trial in the closing moments of the finale, her confession came after Will took the fall for her actions.

Looking to protect Natalie, Will took the blame for her actions which left Goodwin with no choice but to fire Will for his actions in compromising the trial. As a result, Will’s future with Med was left very much up in the air with many fans worrying that Nick Gehlfuss was preparing to join his co-stars Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto in leaving the series.

Although Will’s future remains unclear, one thing that is certain is that fans won’t be bidding farewell to the character anytime soon!

Nick Gehlfuss signs on to return for Chicago Med season 7

According to Deadline, Nick Gehlfuss has agreed to a new multi-year deal with NBC which will ensure Will Halstead will remain a part of Chicago Med for seasons to come. With a new deal inked for Chicago Med season 7, fans can rest assured in knowing they have not seen the last of Will in knowing his story will continue.

Given his actions in compromising the trial by covering up for Natalie’s actions, we imagine there will still be serious consequences to Will’s actions. However, with Gehlfuss on board for Chicago Med season 7, we imagine Will won’t be sitting on the sidelines for too long and is going to somehow end up back at Chicago Med sooner rather than later.
