Chicago Med season 6 finished the 2020-21 season as NBC’s top-rated scripted program and the One Chicago franchise’s medical drama shows no signs of slowing down!

Hot off another successful season, Chicago Med season 7 is coming together nicely with NBC working out new agreements with the cast and the creative teams already eyeing the chance to bring the men and women of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center together with the rest of the One Chicago franchise for a crossover event.

Chicago Med season 7 premiere date

Chicago Med season 7 will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c on NBC. That same night, NBC will roll out the new seasons of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD with Chicago Med once again airing in the night’s opening hour.

Although Chicago Med season 7 will be the show’s first season without original cast members Torrey DeVitto and Yaya DaCosta, the good news is that no other original members of the cast are expected to depart.

Ahead of the new season, NBC has inked new multi-season deals with S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Nick Gehlfuss and Brian Tee to ensure they’ll all be back for season 7. Also returning for season 7 are Marlyne Barrett, Dominic Rains and Steven Weber.

Chicago Med season 7 synopsis

Currently, NBC has not released the official synopsis for Chicago Med‘s upcoming season; however, we imagine we should be in store for another exciting season.

Depending on where the new season picks up, there will be a lot of fallout to explore including what’s to come for Will (Nick Gehlfuss) after Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) fired him for his role in compromising the clinical trial. It’s also going to be interesting to see how Dean (Steven Weber) taking over for Ethan (Brian Tee) as temporary chief of the ED will go given his track record for blurring the lines and ruffling feathers.

And then, of course, we’ll also have to see how the show writes off Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) and April (Yaya DaCosta) and whether we’ll see either pop up in the season 7 premiere for their final farewell or if their exits will occur off-screen.

At this time, NBC has not yet released a trailer for Chicago Med‘s upcoming seventh season and it’s likely we’re going to have to wait until closer to September before the official trailer arrives. As soon as a trailer for season 7 has arrived, we’ll be sure to update this piece!
