Chicago PD season 9: Will Sophia Bush return as Erin Lindsay?

Chicago PD has seen a number of characters come and go over the years, but there is no denying that to this day Sophia Bush’s departure as Detective Erin Lindsay remains one of the most shocking departures in the show’s eight seasons and counting.

Throughout the first four seasons of the show, Bush was a central part of the show as one of the show’s marquee characters. Lindsay was Voight’s (Jason Beghe) right-hand and the two had an unmatchable dynamic and a beautiful father-daughter-like relationship. And let’s not also forget the incredible chemistry she shared with her partner Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), and her role as one half of the Linstead ship.

When Bush chose to depart the show following its fourth season in 2017, fans were stunned. Ever since her exit, they’ve been clamoring for more of Chicago PD‘s former leading lady.

With season 9 on the horizon, fans have once again begun speculating about the likelihood of Lindsay returning in the upcoming season but what are the odds Sophia Bush will actually be returning to the show?

Will Sophia Bush be in Chicago PD season 9?

While we can’t officially rule out Sophia Bush returning as Erin Lindsay in Chicago PD, it is highly unlikely that Bush will be returning to PD in season 9.

Since her exit at the conclusion of season 5, Bush has never once looked back or teased a possible return to the series and it’s looking incredibly unlikely she’ll be returning for the show’s upcoming ninth season.

We say this as Bush is about to return to broadcast as the lead of a new CBS series, which will be debuting as part of the network’s upcoming midseason schedule. Because of her role as the lead of the new series, it’s incredibly unlikely Bush would have time to drop by for a cameo in season 9 of Chicago PD.

Sophia Bush new show

Although we won’t likely be seeing Sophia Bush return as Erin Lindsay in Chicago PD season 9, there is some good news for fans who have been missing the chance to see Bush on their small screens each week.

Bush will soon make her return to broadcast as a lead in CBS’s new medical drama Good Sam, which will premiere as part of the network’s midseason schedule in early 2022.

In the new series, Bush stars as Dr. Sam Griffith, a talented heart surgeon who takes over as Chief of Surgery after her renowned boss falls into a coma. When he finally awakens from his coma months later and demands his duties be restored, Sam finds herself in an interesting predicament in having to oversee her egotistical former boss… who also just so happens to be her dad.

While no premiere date has been set for Bush’s new series, we do know it will be coming sometime in early 2022 as part of CBS’s midseason schedule.
