Chicago Fire is no stranger to leaving the fates of its beloved characters up in the air between seasons with a little help from over-the-top cliffhangers and season 9 was no exception.

As season nine came to a close, the futures of several members of Firehouse 51 were left very much up in the air leaving fans to wonder who, if anyone, might be leaving 51 — and the show — for good.

Boden (Eamonn Walker) was pondering a career change. Hot off passing her lieutenant’s test Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) was in search of a house with an opening for a lieutenant at a house outside of 51. And finally, we had that shocking season-ending cliffhanger which saw Severide (Taylor Kinney), Cruz (Joe Minoso), Capp (Randy Flagler) and Tony (Anthony Ferraris) trapped underwater with their air tanks out of oxygen and exit path blocked.

Needless to say, there was more than a little reason to be concerned about the prospect of more than one beloved member of the cast departing Chicago Fire ahead of season 10, but will anyone actually be leaving the show? Here is what we know about who’s coming back for season 10 and who’s leaving!

Chicago Fire season 10 cast

As we look ahead to Chicago Fire season 10, there are a lot of uncertainties surrounding exactly which members of the cast will be back in action as the contract statuses of the cast are not clear.

Among those we expect to see back in action for season 10 are Jesse Spencer (Matt Casey), Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett), David Eigenberg (Christopher Herrmann), Christian Stolte (Mouch), Alberto Rosende (Blake Gallo) and Daniel Kyri (Darren Ritter). We also know with certainty that Hanako Greensmith will be returning as paramedic Violet Mikami, following the actress’s promotion to series regular.

It’s also been teased that we could potentially see  Jon Ecker return as Lieutenant Greg Grainger at some point in season 10 following his breakout guest arc in season 9.

Because of the way in which the season 9 finale left things, the futures of Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, Eamonn Walker, Joe Minoso, Randy Flagler and Anthony Ferraris remain unconfirmed at this time. However, we’re expecting that most if not all of these actors will be back for season 10 as well in some way.

Heading into season 10, NBC has not confirmed any major cast exits which seems like a promising sign with the only actor who we know won’t be coming back in season 10 is Adriyan Rae, who will not be returning as paramedic Gianna Mackey.

As soon as any additional information regarding the season 10 cast becomes available we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, we’re remaining optimistic that all of our favorite actors will be back in season 10 in some form!
