Chicago Med will be heading back to NBC for a new season on Sept. 22, but when the One Chicago medical drama returns there will be two notable characters missing from the Chicago Med season 7 cast.
Leading up to the Chicago Med season 6 finale, original cast members Torrey DeVitto and Yaya DaCosta announced they would be leaving the series after six seasons with the show.
As it was announced at the time, it was revealed DeVitto and DaCosta ultimately decided not to extend their contracts on the show and decided to step away from the One Chicago franchise to pursue other opportunities after six seasons of playing Dr. Natalie Manning and Nurse April Sexton, respectively.
Will Torrey DeVitto be in Chicago Med season 7?
In looking ahead to Chicago Med season 7, it’s looking to be the first season without Torrey DeVitto appearing in any form following DeVitto’s decision not to renew her contract on the show at the conclusion of season 6.
Given DeVitto is leaving the show on good terms, it is possible she might make an appearance in the season 7 premiere to tie up a few loose ends for her character before departing. We saw something similar occur when Colin Donnell stepped away from the show, with Donnell making a final appearance in the season 5 premiere before his departure to tie up loose ends in Connor’s storyline.

While we can’t rule out a final appearance in the season 7 premiere, it’s looking unlikely DeVitto will be returning in the season ahead as the stage had already been set for her departure in the season 6 finale.
Given when we last saw Natalie, she had confessed her involvement in breaking the trial protocol in stealing the drugs for her mom, it’s likely her departure will take place off-screen.
