Chicago PD season 9: Everything fans want to see next season on Chicago PD

All summer long, we here at One Chicago Center have been taking a look ahead to Chicago PD season 9. From speculation over the outcome of the season’s big cliffhangers to what’s next for all of our favorite Chicago PD characters, there has been a lot to discuss this offseason! However, today, we’re turning things over to our fellow fans!

Last month, we asked fans to tell us what was at the top of their wishlist for their favorite characters in looking ahead to season 9, and boy did they deliver! Fans were quick to reveal their biggest hopes for the season ahead in identifying the storylines they’re hoping the writers might find a way to make happen.

From well wishes for the show’s beloved couples and a wave of calls for love interests for some of the show’s singles to the desire to see the returns of familiar faces and hopes for further character development, fans have high hopes for the season ahead!

After reading through the various responses to our inquiry, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite wishes from the One Chicago fandom to produce a roundup of wishes related to all of the show’s core characters. (Note: Submissions have been edited for content and clarity.)

What should happen in Chicago PD season 9, according to the fans 

Mary’s wish: “More interaction between political figures and Voight, like in season 6 with Alderman Ray Price.”

Leo’s wish: “Friendship scenes!!! I absolutely love Burzek and Upstead, but Kim and Hailey need more scenes together, as do Jay and the boys!!!”

Bella’s wish: “Exploring Jay Halstead’s military background a bit more. We haven’t seen enough of it and Jesse Lee Soffer does an excellent job portraying a soldier turned cop.”

Angie’s wish: “We need more crossovers. It would be nice if the Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD linked up more as they are supposed to be working together to serve the city.”

Karen’s wish: “More storylines and maybe a love interest for Atwater. LaRoyce is such an amazing actor they need to utilize him more!”

Tammie’s wish: “I would love it if Al didn’t die but they put him in witness protection and the case was solved and he got to come back.

Hess’s wish: “There are several things I want to see. A conversation between Halstead and Burgess was talking about their trauma and maybe seeing their friendship evolve! Burzek is back and happy to have a family with Makayla. Possibility to see a wedding between Halstead and Upton. Upton needs to tell Halstead the truth about what happened with Voight. Hope to see Atwater find someone in his dating life.”

Ashley’s wish: “MORE TRUDY! We need more Trudy!”

Bre’s wish: “For Chicago PD to actually show Burgess’s recovery, not jump right back to her being all healed and ready to go as the season begins.”

Ronald’s wish: “I want to see the return of Mouse onto the show. Since the actor who played Mouse is a Chicago native, it’d be nice to have him come home again.”

Jay and Hailey fan’s wish: “I wish for a lot of Upstead scenes, a double date between Upstead and Stellaride and finally until the end of the season I wish all the unit to be happy and all together at Molly’s to celebrate the Upstead wedding.”

Cookie’s wish: “Kim being okay. Jay becoming a sergeant and Kevin becoming a detective.”

Mike’s wish: “More crossovers between the entire One Chicago franchise.”

Edgar’s wish: “I want to see a crossover with FBI: Most Wanted.”

Debbie’s wish: “Bring back a better mixture of Intelligence and Patrol with more Trudy.”

Taisa’s wish: “For Erin Lindsay to come back.”

LM’s wish: “Most importantly, I want Hailey to tell Jay what happened with Voight. And I want the two of them to figure things out together. I wanna see more of their unbreakable bond, love, and trust. I’d love to see more cute domestic Upstead scenes at home or on a date or something.”
