5. Kim Burgess and Nicole Silver

Chicago PD is famous for having two brothers with siblings in the other One Chicago shows, but we hadn’t gotten to learn about Kim Burgess’ sister, Nicole Silver (Jules Willcox), until season 4. All we knew about Nicole was that she had a young daughter, Zoe (guest star Aimee Laurence), who got caught up in an explosion back in season two of Chicago Fire.

We meet Nicole in “Little Bit of Light” when she shows up in Chicago to visit Kim with some rather unexpected news.  Nicole briefly clashes with Burgess’ ex-fiancé, Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), before dropping the bombshell that she is about to get divorced. Burgess invites Nicole and Zoe to stay with her until she had decided what to do and how she was going to move on from the divorce.

Then in “Last Minute Resistance” we see the full extent of Nicole and Kim’s sibling relationship when Nicole is drugged and sexually assaulted after a night out with friends. The Intelligence Unit throws themselves into catching the people who harmed Nicole, but in a dark twist of fate stumbles upon the body of one of her friends. Knowing that it could have been her sister who died, Burgess is determined to catch the sadistic men who hurt her—and goes way over the line to get the job done.

Partnered with Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), Burgess goes undercover and ends up back at the apartment of the two suspects. After intentionally drinking something laced with a date-rape drug, Burgess stumbles into the bedroom where her sister was attacked to lure out one of the attackers. Whilst the rest of the Intelligence Unit rush in, Burgess takes matters into her own hands and gets revenge for her sister’s attack by administering a savage beating.

But that’s not all she does for Nicole. At the end of the episode, Burgess reveals that she’s taking time off from Intelligence to look after her sister and help her deal with what she’s suffered. Not only did Burgess physically catch her sister’s attackers, but she was also willing to put a job she had been working towards for years on the line so she could help Nicole’s recovery.

That makes Kim Burgess and Nicole Silver definitely one of the best sibling relationships in One Chicago, even if again, we only saw them together for a few episodes.
