3. April and Noah Sexton

The One Chicago franchise normally has its siblings split across two shows, or they make brief cameo appearances if they’re guest stars. There’s only one pair that are really featured on the same show, and that’s the Sexton siblings.

When Chicago Med started, we were introduced to April (Yaya DaCosta). But we also learned about her brother, Noah. Her parents thought Noah should be a doctor and April sacrificed her own career to make that happen. Not long afterward, in “Malignant,” Noah (Roland Buck III) made his first appearance.

April and Noah often butt heads, especially when it comes to their personal lives, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care about each other. April helped her brother through medical school to become the doctor she knew he could be, and she’s helped him numerous times since. At the end of his first episode, April cancels her plans with Kelly Severide so she can assist her brother in studying for his exams.

During his time as a resident at Chicago Med, April continued to stick up for him and try to help him, even when it’s to her detriment. As Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) pointed out, Noah leans on April too much instead of doing things himself. It’s an imperfect relationship, but that’s another way it stands out, too.

Although Noah’s time at Med came to an unfortunate end due to his decision to allow a patient to take their own life and left the series shortly after, it was nice to be able to watch the Sextons’ relationship grow on the same series for as long as we were lucky to see it flourish.

They clearly support each other not only through work but away from work. They might not have the same dramatic moments as other One Chicago pairs, but they grew and changed together, and we value that just as much.
