Chicago Med season 7: Who is not returning to Chicago Med this fall?

Chicago Med season 6 was filled with several major developments for our favorite doctors and nurses, plenty of relationship drama, and even the introduction of a few new characters!

The season 6 finale, in particular, proved to be quite an intense hour for the show in leaving the futures of many characters up in the air.

Dean (Steven Weber) was named interim chief of the ED with Ethan (Brian Tee) being sidelined as the result of his injuries from a patient-involved shooting. April (Yaya DaCosta) was accepted into the nurse practitioners program, while Crockett and Natalie (Torrey DeVitto) seemed to bring their relationship to an end.

Speaking of relationships, Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) was left in shock when Vanessa revealed she knew the truth about their connection and made it clear she didn’t want anyone at Med to know Maggie was her birth mother.

Elsewhere, Will’s (Nick Gehlfuss) future at Med was thrust into question after Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) fired him for the role he played in breaking the trial protocol. The same uncertainty remains for Natalie, who in the final moments of the season confessed the truth to Goodwin in taking responsibility for her actions in stealing the trial drugs.

Needless to say, there are a lot of questions about the futures of the entire Chicago Med ensemble and the sad reality is that it’s the end of the road for a few characters.

Chicago Med season 7 cast

Chicago Med is no stranger to cast departures and there are at least two actors leaving the show after season 6. As previously reported, Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto are both exiting the series and will not return for season 7 in their roles as April and Natalie.

It’s unclear whether either actress will make a brief appearance in the season 7 premiere to tie up any loose ends in their characters’ storylines, but at this time all that has been confirmed is that both DaCosta and DeVitto will not be returning as series regulars next season.

The good news is that all other members of the cast will be back for season 7. Marlyne Barrett, Nick Gehlfuss, S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Brian Tee, Dominic Rains and Steven Weber will all be returning for the upcoming seventh season. They’ll be joined by new series regulars Kristen Hager and Guy Lockard, as well as fellow new addition Michael Rady, though it remains to be seen how large a role Rady will have this season.

We’re also anticipating season 7 will feature the returns of several of the show’s recurring actors including Asjha Cooper as Vanessa Taylor, Nate Santana as James Lanik, Brenna Brown as Sam Abrams, Tehmina Sunny as Sabeena Virani, Charles Malik Whitfield as Ben Campbell and Lorena Diaz as Nurse Doris.
