Who played Severide’s mom on Chicago Fire?
By Cody Schultz
When it comes to guest stars, Chicago Fire has featured several incredible actors over the years in guest roles but there is no denying one of the show’s finest feats with the casting of Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) mom, Jennifer Sheridan.
In season 6, NBC tapped Emmy-winning actress Kim Delaney to appear in a guest arc in the role of Severide’s mom. A veteran of TV, Delaney brought so much heart to the role of the single mom who raised Severide on her own and to their relationship.
Although she only appeared in three episodes and hasn’t appeared in an episode since season 7, the character is one that has recently been name-dropped leaving fans wondering if a return is imminent. Is it just wishful thinking or could Delaney be eyeing a comeback?
Is Kim Delaney coming back to Chicago Fire?
At this time, there has been no news on whether Kim Delaney will be returning to Chicago Fire this season; however, there is a possibility we could be seeing Delaney reprise her role as Jennifer Sheridan sometime this season.

Ahead of the season premiere, it was teased that a beloved character will be returning in the second hour of season 10 and it’s possible Delaney’s Jennifer Sheridan could have been that character. Given how Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) nudged Severide to call his mom in the season 10 premiere it’s definitely a possibility Delaney could return to reprise her role as Severide’s mom this season.
Considering Severide and Stella are expected to exchange I Do’s this season, it would be fitting for Severide’s mom to be present for the wedding and we’d love to see Delaney back on the show, even if just for an episode or two.
