Over the years, there have been a lot of characters to come and go on Chicago Fire. While some of these departures were anticipated and felt organic, many exits over the years took us by surprise and left us wanting more.

From untimely deaths which brought sudden ends to characters’ time on the show to shocking story developments that led to a character leaving 51 behind them, Chicago Fire has served up some pretty surprising exits over its 10+ seasons.

The show has also found ways to bring characters back into the fold from time to time with guest appearances and even recurring guest arcs that allowed viewers to catch up with beloved characters who had since departed, even if just for another episode.

While there are a lot of Chicago Fire characters we’d love to see return, we have to confess there are definitely a few characters we’re longing to see back on our screens again.

Yuri Sardarov as Otis

How can you come up with a wishlist of characters who you’d love to see return to Chicago Fire and not include Otis?!

For seven seasons, Otis (Yuri Sardarov) was the heart of 51 and there is no denying his death definitely hit the firehouse hardest due to the way in which his life was intertwined with each and every member of the house. While it’s not been quite as long since we last saw Otis, the show hasn’t been the same since he left and we’d jump at the chance to get another new Otis scene in the series.

Maybe he visits Cruz in a dream or maybe we get to see a sweet flashback from their early days on the job together, we’d be game for anything as we’d love to see Otis back somehow.
