Last week on Chicago PD, the Intelligence Unit worked a series of smash and grabs which took an unexpected turn when Burgess (Marina Squerciati) discovered Ruzek’s (Patrick John Flueger) old colleague working the case with them was in on the job.

Although Ruzek didn’t want to believe his former colleague was in on the robberies at first, the evidence spoke for itself leaving him with no choice but to turn his friend in for his actions — which included putting Ruzek’s life in jeopardy when he pulled back on a chase in pursuit of the armed suspects.

Wondering what’s next for the Intelligence Unit this Wednesday night? Below we share the latest promotional materials for season 9 including the promo, synopsis, and photos for episode 7, “Trust Me.”

Chicago PD season 9 episode 7 promo

After shifting the focus around to Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) and Ruzek in the past two episodes, it looks like Chicago PD is finally shifting its focus back onto the ongoing storyline with Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), Voight (Jason Beghe) and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).

If the trailer is any indication, things could be coming to a head this week between Voight and Halstead with Halstead not holding back with his words to Voight. After expressing his lack of trust in Voight, Halstead makes it clear he’s not afraid to walk away from the team due to the growing rift between the two.

Chicago PD season 9 episode 7 synopsis

Although the promo for the episode seems to suggest the heart of the episode might be about the fallout of Hallstead discovering the truth about Voight and Upton’s secret, the synopsis for the episode seems to paint a different picture.

As teased in the synopsis, episode 7 will find the Intelligence Unit working to bring down a drug ring with help from Voight’s new informant who seems to have her own motives.

Here’s how NBC officially describes season 9, episode 7:

"As the team works to bring down a drug ring, Voight builds trust with a new informant. However, it soon becomes clear she has a plan of her own."
