Who does Brett Dalton play on Chicago Fire?

Chicago Fire was dealt a heavy blow when Casey (Jesse Spencer) decided to uproot his life and leave the 51. Fortunately, it looks like there might be a formidable replacement in the form of actor Brett Dalton.

Dalton will be playing interim Lieutenant Jason Pelham. The character will temporarily fill in for Casey in rank, but the interim title implies that his tenure at 51 may not be a permanent one. It’s possible that Chicago Fire showrunners want to leave things tentative and want to see how fans take to Dalton before they decide to commit to his character.

There’s also the ongoing narrative involving Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), who was promoted at the tail end of season 9 but was faced with the decision of leaving 51 to lead her own firehouse. Casey’s departure has left a vacancy that Stella could easily fill, but showrunner Derek Haas has teased some drama surrounding the position.

Given the “hot topic” treatment that Stella’s subplot will get, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some tension develop between her and Pelham. Stella could see Pelham as someone standing in the way of a position that should be hers, and the latter could see her as being inexperienced to lead the 51 squad.

Dalton should be plenty familiar to TV fans. He’s probably best known for his starring role on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but he’s also had memorable guest spots on shows like Blue Bloods, Robot Chicken, and Elementary. He’s also known for playing the character Michael Munroe in the 2015 video game Until Dawn.
