Jon Seda might not be making his way back to Chicago PD anytime soon, but fans can look forward to seeing more of the former One Chicago detective on their screens via his newest NBC series.

With its freshman season nearing its conclusion, NBC has handed out an early second season renewal to Seda’s new drama La Brea assuring the series will continue beyond its first season!

The news comes as the series remains NBC’s top new drama of the season, with the series averaging 5 million viewers and a 0.6 demo rating thus far this season through its seventh episode. With those numbers, La Brea is currently fourth overall in total viewers this season behind, ironically, only the One Chicago dramas.

La Brea season 1 finale date

NBC’s early renewal is sure to come as a relief for fans eager to see the series continue beyond its current season and it just so happens to come only weeks before the show’s season 1 finale airs on NBC later this month.

Pending any unexpected changes, La Brea is set to conclude its freshman season on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 9/8c on NBC. The series will then go on break but will return sometime next year as part of NBC’s 2022-23 season. Whether the show will return in the fall or move to midseason remains unclear, but at least we know Seda’s newest series won’t be going anywhere!
