Chicago Fire cast: Breaking down who plays every key character (2023)

There have been a lot of changes to the Chicago Fire cast over the years. We’ve seen beloved characters walk away after their character arcs came to a close, as new faces emerged and became integral parts of the cast.

The Chicago Fire cast is filled with amazing actors, some who have been with the series from Day 1 and others whose journeys on the show have only just begun. Regardless of when they made their debuts though, these characters all play a part in making the show what it is today.

The role of Kelly Severide is played by veteran cast member Taylor Kinney, who originated the role in the series premiere and has appeared in all ten seasons of the show.

Kara Killmer as Sylvie Brett

Paramedic Sylvie Brett is played by Kara Killmer, who first joined the cast back in season 3 and is the show’s longest-tenured paramedic character.

David Eigenberg as Christopher Herrmann

David Eigenberg has played Christopher Herrmann since the premiere episode, appearing in more than 200 episodes and counting thus far. It’s now Eigenberg’s longest-running acting gig, his previous role coming as Steve Brady in HBO’s Sex and the City.

Joe Minoso as Joe Cruz

Longtime 51 firefighter Joe Cruz is played by actor Joe Minoso  — the only actor on the current cast who shares the same first name as his character.

Christian Stolte as Randall “Mouch” McHolland

While Christian Stolte is best known for his portrayal of Mouch, a role he originated in the series premiere, the veteran actor has appeared in a number of titles over the years including FOX’s hit series Prison Break.

Miranda Rae Mayo as Stella Kidd

It’s hard to believe that Miranda Rae Mayo has only been playing Stella Kidd for six seasons as it truly feels like Kidd has been around since the beginning. However, it wasn’t until the fifteenth episode of season 4 that Mayo made her debut in the role.

The role of Blake Gallo is played by actor Alberto Rosende, who made his debut as 51’s newest recruit in the second episode of season 8 following his breakout role in Freeform’s hit drama Shadowhunters.

Chicago Fire‘s Darren Ritter is played by actor Daniel Kyri, who is not only an actor but a writer and producer as well — having written, starred and produced the miniseries The T.

Among the show’s newer cast additions is actress Hanako Greensmith, who joined the cast as paramedic Violet Mikami in season 8 before becoming a series regular in season 10.

Katelynn Shennett as Kylie

Although many members of the Chicago Fire cast have appeared in other shows and movies over the years, actress Katelynn Shennett’s big break has come in playing the role of Kylie Estevez since season 8 of NBC’s firefighter drama.

Anthony Ferraris as Tony

While most members of the cast just play firefighters, Anthony Ferraris is an actual Chicago firefighter who just happens to also play one on TV via his role as Tony.

Jake Lockett as Sam Carver

Sam Carver on Chicago Fire is played by actor Jake Lockett. One of Lockett’s early roles was in the 2011 film Break. From 2012 to 2013, he played Jack Parker in the TV series In Reverie. After that, he appeared in the movie Stepping High. Some of Lockett’s other acting appearances include roles in NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-0, and Masters of Sex.

Caitlin Carver as Emma Jacobs

Emma Jacobs is a former paramedic who was temporarily assigned to Ambulance 61 at Firehouse 51 while Sylvie Brett is on furlough on Chicago Fire. She is played by actress Caitlin Carver. Carver started her career as a dancer and has been seen on The Fosters (as Hayley Heinz) and on Dear White People (as Muffy Tuttle). She also played Nancy Kerrigan in the Oscar-winning film I, Tonya.
